Basilier

The Basilier family originates in France or Belgium and one branch of the family moved from Germany to settle in Sweden in the 1620s as traders in luxury goods. At the end of the 18th century, three family members transferred to Finland, a Swedish province at the time.

K.E. Ståhlberg’s mother was Mathilda Basilier and her relatives were among others Ida Basilier, opera singer, Hjalmar Basilier, ethnologist and Johan Fahle Basilier, painter.
